gear choice

i know this is asked alot and yes i have searched but i havent been able to find any solid info about exactly what i want. i have a 95 trans am with a tci built 700-r with reverse manual valve bodies and a 3000-3500 stall. other then some probs i had with tci the trans feels great and i love having to shift it, but my 2.73's kill it. my q is with street tires of maybe a set of dr's how bad will 4.10's be for traction? im not to worried about gas but i dont want to blaze my tires whenever im lanching off a light. so 3.73 or 4.10?

Re: gear choice

4.10's and drag radials and you'll be fine. Even good street tires aren't that bad. (see my sig). OK, granted you've got a stall converter, but still, DR's should make up for that.

Re: gear choice

Don't forget that 4.10's usually produce more whine (depending on the gear manufacturer and who set them up), I had 4.10's and 4.11's and they were definitily the most fun, but very loud. The 3.73's might be a better way to go. Do you drive this daily or is it just a drag car?

Re: gear choice

I think you will be happier with 3.73.

Re: gear choice

The 4.10/4.11 is just too much gear for a car that runs out of breath at <6,000rpm.
