Gauge Cluster, or VSS???

Basically the speedometer is mostly reading 0. It will bounce around for a second when I hit a bump, or when I bang on the dashboard. It will bounce between 10 and 25 when I'm doing 70 MPH but anything below 50 unless I bang on it or hit a bump will read 0 MPH... I just started doing this right after I installed LED's under the shifter plate. Could I have jarred something? I'm able to get out of 1st gear (A4) with no problems... Whats the likely deal here? Faulty Gauge Cluster or VSS under the transmission?

Edit: Oh btw if it matters, it's a 97 V6 3.8 with an Auto
