Front seal pouring fluid
Front seal pouring fluid
I recently installed a used tranny. It worked flawlessly for about a week. Under the advice from a "transmission guy" I added some Lucas treatment to the tranny.
Within minutes of adding the fluid I noticed the dripping from the bell housing (it did not leak a drop before). My fluid was a bit low before I added the Lucas but I assumed I had overfilled the tranny causing the fluid to blow out the front seal.
I dropped the tranny and replaced the seal. I inspected the converter and it had no wear marks, the existing seal looked fine also.
When I put it back together the leak was still there.
Could the front pump just be damaged? If so, what should I look for? I still have my old tranny to use for parts. Is it O.K. to use the front pump from it? (it didn't leak)
Could the honey like Lucas treatment have clogged something causing this blow back?
Thanks in advance,
Curt
