drove it Sat was hard shifting into gear had to bang it a little then halfway hole it jumped out of third gear when i shifted into third by the time i got home it wouldnt go into reverse at all makes a bad grinding noise.
Have a little car knowledge a backyard mechanic kinda girl. worked mostly on pre electronic cars. So not sure someone said maybe a shift solenoid any suggestions.
Just spent $3000 putting a new engine in my truck so funds kinda tight hoping i can do it myself fixed the coolant sensor today that felt good LOL

wow Nobody Knows

Wow nobody can tell me if the shift soleniod can be keeping my car from going into reverse?

If its just a $25 solenoid was hoping not to have to let car set till i could afford to tow to a transmission place to have them look at it.

There a "reverse lockout" solenoid. It prevents the shifter from entering the "reverse" gate when the vehicle is moving. If that solenoid fails, it will make it extremely difficult to move the shifter all the way to the right so it can be pulled down into reverse. But once you force it to the side, it should slide into reverse, and stay there. Shouldn't grind because of the reverse lockout.

Is that the "shift solenoid" you are referring to, or are you asking about the "skip shift" solenoid?

6 speed goes right and up into reverse not down but

a corvette guy said try putting into reverse with car off so i could move it....that worked put it in reverse and started it no problem ....moved car out of way of other vehicles but when tried putting it in reverse again was hard to get in gear and seemed to get harder with each try.

so turned car off and there it sits....guess it will have to sit till i can get it to a mechanic
