Everyone w/4.10's & a4 in here!
Thinking im going to go with 4 10's for my car.
Just wondering how you guys like them and how much it affected your driving. I'm not planning on doing alot to my car. Possible just suspension and maybe a cam after i get my headers in. Don't really plan on running reall slicks at the track but who knows.
How much did it effect your gas mileage and what rpm's are you at at like 60 -80 MPH?
Can anyone tell me what a good price and a good brand also.
Also on the street how much did you notice from going from stock gears (3.23's) Does it spin the tires at higher speeds?

I would personally recommend going with a 3200 Vigilante or similar since you already have 3.23's. You would probably gain a lot more from the torque converter. My 2800 Vigi isn't bad at all, but I wish I had gone bigger. (Why do I feel like I've heard that before? )JMO.

Well, I've had the 4.10's in my car most of this year (since early May I think? ) and my opinion on them has changed over the last few months. They ARE and they AREN'T good. I can't speak for what 3.23's are like, but I know how my car worked with 2.73's, I had 3.73's last summer, and I've now got the 4.10's.
In the city, light-to-light, and at the track, they work great. At certain speeds (even cruising on the highway) they can work pretty good too, but their range is limited --- I mean, because the gearing is so low, the car "runs out of gear" really quick, so depending on how fast you're going, the tranny will usually only downshift 1 gear at best. However, with the factory 2.73's, even doing ~80 mph on the highway, they would drop from 4th gear all the way to 2nd!! For "normal" city/highway driving though, I can't honestly say that I notice how "great" they are, and there are actually times I wish I had my 2.73's in (1 being that the car is just about NEVER in 1st gear.........seriously! ). That being the case, only being able to get 2nd gear when you go around a corner or something like that, the ratio is actually worse than having 2.73's and being able to get 1st gear (1st having that nice 3.06:1 ratio ).
I'd probably recommend getting a converter and leaving your 3.23's, but it depends on what you want your car to do?
Oh yeah, mileage wise, the absolute best I got with the 4.10's on the highway was 250 miles on a tank. With my 2.73's, I usually "averaged" ~225 - 250, and I could get about ~300 - 310 miles to a tank on a highway trip. My "average" now with 4.10's is about ~200 miles to a tank!!
