Re: driveshaft issue

It will work. Is the difference in length found in the size of the Yoke that splines into the tranny? If so, it just won't slide onto the output shaft as far, which is oK.

Re: driveshaft issue

The question should be: Will it work correctly? A DS that is not the right size may be a problem. I believe the best thing to do is see if it is balanced, once installed.JMHO

Re: driveshaft issue

Oh...I assume that the DS from the 97 was an aftermarket item, since I believe the stocker is steel.

Re: driveshaft issue

All factory Aluminum Dr Shafts from 3rd & 4th gen cars are the SAME OVERALL LENGTH. You have to have measured incorrectly.

Re: driveshaft issue

i thought the same thing infact i knew this...yet despite my 8 years of running the tape in carpentry i didnt measure wrong....i set the driveshafts on top of each other and the new aluminum one was 1/2 inch shorter than the stock...and it isnt a aftermarket....there was a aluminum one on the 4th gen.
