Driveshaft: Aluminum or Steel?
Driveshaft: Aluminum or Steel?
I have an 2002 Z28, A4 that came with stock 2.73's. What came from the factory, an aluminum or steel driveshaft?
I need to be sure, I thought they were all supposed to be aluminum on Ls1's, except for verts, but the dealer insists it came from the factory with a steel one. (I had it in for warranty work last week, then went to install a torque arm this weekend and came across the steel driveshaft.)

.I'm not too concerned about the steel driveshaft
. IMO, it's probably stronger than the aluminum one, and I doubt that the weight difference is all that much?
if its the same driveshaft that was used on the lt1's then there is a big weight difference and you can multiply the weight by 3 since its rotating weight.
i switched to an aluminum driveshaft because my steel one had vibration problems and the ls1 driveshaft was an easy pick up
