Drag Slick??
Re: Drag Slick??
You sig doesn't say that you have a converter, so the shock shouldn't be too bad on the rear. Also, any time you go to the track you run the risk of breaking something i.e. the rear. I have lots of friends running 11's and lower at the track on slicks and they have made numerous passes. However, their rears are giving out. I don't think that one time at the track will kill the rear esp since I don't think you'll see anything better than a 1.8 60'.
IMO, I think that your car will be fine to make several passes with slicks, but you always run the risk of breaking when at the track. Also, it depends on what kind of shape your rear is in. Your car is 12 years old. Sorry my post didn't really answer anything, but I hope it helps.

On the other hand, a friend's 9 second car has cut 1.5x 60' times on his stock rearend with a stroker and a converter that stalls to 5,000+ rpm.
There is no clear cut answer except for, do not run slicks unless you're prepared to fix a broken drivetrain component if you experience failure.

You shouldn't have any trouble at all, hell you really shouldnt even need slicks with those mods unless your running lower gears or a converter.
Thats the perfect answer though

The safety rules have been implemented due to others unfortunate situations and are there to protect more than you. Do yourself a favor and if going to run stickey tires, adhere to the rules. Too many guys would administer a class A azz whoopin on some hack that just tore up an opponents car or hurt another driver/spectator due to being cheap/stupid or felt like gambling with others well being.
Not trying to sound like a pre madonna either, but anytime you have cars on a race track going ballz out no matter how fast/slow-**** happens. I seen a car do a 360 in teh middle of the track one night...she was only running low 9's in teh 1/8mi.
