down sizing gear ratio

ok i know i was all exited about the 4.10 gear i had put in a couple of months ago but for an automatic tranny that gear is just too much.Ive changed tires and still spin all the way halfway through 2nd gear so now im down sizing it too a 3.73 but i dont now what series i have or how i find out. its a 99 z28 auto it had 2.73 gears in it at first but i swapped them out for a 4.10 but now im going to a 3.73 so if anyone can help me out here im thinking of buying these gears here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33731
I thought i would just ask you experts about if this would fit for sure thanks??

If you originally had 2.73's, then you need gears for a 2-series carrier, and the gears in that eBay ad said they're for a 3-series carrier. If you originally had 3.23's, then you would have a 3-series carrier.

Just out of curiousity, did you run with drag radials or E/T Streets on your car? Or did it just roast the hell out of the regular street tires? Unfortunately with street tires, you're still gonna have traction problems with 3.73's.

If you're only running street tires, then you're still going to have problems with 3.73's. I had them in my car last year, and they would spin the tires half way through 2nd gear as well. It's fun on the one hand, but really impractical on the other! Also at the track, I ran the exact same time as in my sig. I know that with a good set of tires I would have run much quicker.

Now my buddy is running 3.42's with the A4 in his '96 T/A, and he's really happy with them. I think 3.42's are a really good "all around" gear, and even with street tires you probably wouldn't cook the back tires quite so bad.

yeah but even if i through the 3.73 gear in it i have heard, not posetive but i have heard with drag radials like nittos the rear end can handle it as long as you watch your hp. im running mostly stock cold air intake, loudmouth,hpp3 for gear swap,k&n,granetelli mafs i think if i through 3.73 with drag radials i shouldnt have rear end trouble. The only reason why i havent trown the drags on yet is im afraid ill bust the stock rear end off with the 4.10's and i dont really have 2,000 or more to dish out on a stornger rear end
