hey, i am just trying to figure out what is wrong with my car. it does not shift into 3rd gear under load ie. when i am at the track and go to 2-3 shift the shifter just goes into some weird "gray area" and gets stuck there, if i do it really slow it just won't go in until i have a lot of pressure, then it just kind of "pops". if the car is not moving it will go in and out of the gears, kind of notchy, but it does go in and out and my shifting is pretty darn on.

i had this problem to some extent, but today, now that my car has signifigantly more power than last time i drove it (about 80 more whp) it is signifigantly worse.

mods that might affect it: b and m ripper shifter, 3.73's, 138k miles (original transmission, second clutch), fast motor, poly tranny/motor mounts.

 

There could be multiple things causing this. The obvious things would be bad syncro, worn slider, worn keys, fork pads and so on.With the miles that you have gotten on that trans it sounds like it's time for a freshenup. Vince

Well it will have to be removed and inspected. Not a easy fix if you are not qualified. Might want to take to a shop or talk to one of the vendors here!
