Do lightweight or aluminum rear ends exist?

Do lightweight or aluminum rear ends exist?

Just curious. I thought I saw this one day, and it was for drag applications only. Maybe I was dreaming. Anyway do lightweight options exist for any rear components? - besides the cover plate of course

Moser makes an M9 9-inch rear that may be a bit lighter, since its fabricated out of 1/8" steel plate, not a re-used Ford housing. Definitely stronger than a Ford housing. The light weight components available for most of the aftermarket rears include a spool in place of a heavy limited slip unit, gun drilled axles, drilled hubs, lightened pinion gear, etc. For the 9-inch, you can get a lighter weight aluminum drop-out center section.

lgiht stuff wears out quick and is expensive.....consider that and consider what you build is before you waste alot of money like I did.....
