Cracked flywheel. Dealership might deny the claim. Please help...
Here is a pic of the cracked flywheel on my 2001 LS1 TransAm. I drove the car a little after I thought something was wrong, but just to get it home. I went to the dealership and they think it might be due to a neutral drop. They are calling in a GM claims adjuster to determine the cause. I will honestly say that I didn't do a neutral drop with the car ever, but I have done a lot of full throttle starts and did some driving in 1st (A4). Might it have metal fatigue and just finally snapped? They also now think they need to replace the Bellhousing. The car has 30k miles and has been floored a lot, but no neutral drops or break torque's. What should I do if they deny the claim?
Also they made mention to the only performance part on the car ... the cutout ... and they said people put those on to get more power.

That sucks man, but the cut-out has NOTHING to do with a flywheel breaking. All I can say is don't take no for an answer. If one guy turns down the claim, just go to his/her boss and so on until you can't go any higher!

I agree.
You'll have to be persistent to get any kind of reaction. Most likely hoping you'll just cut your losses.
The flywheel or flexplate in this case, shouldn't crack... I don't care what you do to the car. The cutout statement only shows me that they are looking for an "out". What... do they think people buy these cars because they like to drive slow?
May need to get a lawyer involved if things don't move your way.
Good luck.

Re: Cracked flywheel. Dealership might deny the claim. Please help...
Call GM customer service and tell them how unhappy you are starting to get and that you want to resolve this peacefully. If still no luck call the better business bereau. If still no luck which I don't see happening then go pay a lawyer $50 to give them a call. Even if it was your fault but they can't prove it then they legally have to pay, even if you can't prove you didn't do it.

Oh c'mon, of course it's your fault
...........you drove the car
.
Sorry, but that's ridiculous. The flexplate should stand up to a lot more abuse than simply doing its job
. I've never seen one broke like that before?!
I'm sure it may not be the first time, but I don't believe it's that common either. They've gotta replace it for crying out loud!
I'd be pi$$ed if they didn't
