CPT Trans owners inside please.
CPT Trans owners inside please.
I just want to know your expierence w/your CPT trans. What all you had CPT do for you (what build/extra parts) and what your car puts down power wise and how well your trans is holding up to it? I've already spent way to much on "built" trannies, so I am just looking for a little feed back. Thanks in advance, oh yeah and this will make my 6th built tranny in the car.
Re: CPT Trans owners inside please.
agreed...i got a race rebuild with a 65e front support...fuddle 3200 for about a year and with headers cold air and a cc306 cam, it cuts 1.6 60 all day long without hesitation...i still talk to frank hes always helpful...id reccomend him to anyone...plus the refresh price is great...even with shipping its cheaper than any1 else with the same gaurantee

Before my heads/cam/LT's/Gears/Tune the car made 364/430 on a small kit... So really I am more interested in torque numbers. Whenever I get a trans and get the car on a dyno it should make in the area of 400-440rwhp and slightly higher torque on motor, and then it will be hit with a NX Wet Kit, 150/175/200. Just on a 150 kit the car will make well over 600rwtq possibly nearing 700rwtq. From what I know and have heard about trannies the tq is more what kills them than the hp.
Thanks for the responces so far.
Re: CPT Trans owners inside please.
I was one of the first CPT trannies put out to the public, he has made many before mine but he started the CPT thing about the time he did mine the others were just friends and local guys stuff. I have daily driven the hell out of it for well over 15K miles and a few years now. My car only puts down 296 RWHP and 323 LB/FT torque through the auto and 3500 stall. I got the first version of the "Race" built tranny before he added extra options that hold up even better. My tranny was identical to one Frank built for another friend of mine who sent me to Frank and he was running full bolt ons and an NX 175 shot through his for 2 years of 11.0's without issues.

CPT race trans in my car too. I put just about every optioin in it with the exception of the 5 gear planetary set. I did have to buy a new input shaft as I destroyed mine. I didnt really lean on it much with the old motor. Only dynoed 330rwhp but the car ran 12.0's before and a new best of 11.81 after a CPT rebuild. 60's were in the 1.57-1.59 range consistently and the car ran 11.88-11.90 all day long.
I ran a 4.10 gear and an ST4000 Yank converter... it still wanted to rip you from your seat on the 1-2 shift. Thank god for solid monts and a 5 point harness
My next motor should run low 11's on motor and dip well into the 10's on nitrous. I have to run 10's to try and hurt the trans

Not bad huh? Sorry I just like that pic and want to throw it up whenever possible, I know it's not too impressive compared to the high power cars but not too bad either considering what little is done with my car...
Re: CPT Trans owners inside please.
Still nothing catching my eye with the posted numbers/et's in this thread sofar, besides the pic that Frank posted. But even then I don't know if that car has a lot of suspension work done and/or has a bunch of weight reduction done to it. I have a friend with a completely stock motor LS1 that dips in to the 1.5xx 60's and one that went a 1.4xx 60' on a stock trans/rear with just heads/cam, so posting 60's doesn't really impress me. My only fear is being the guy to find the hp/tq limit of these trannies.
Before the heads/cam/gears/lt's/tune the car already went 12.11 @ 116 on a crappy 1.86 60' and a best 60' of 1.76 on a miss adjusted tq arm (+2* instead of -2*). Posting any mph lower that that is of no interest to me (sorry don't mean to sound harsh or anything like that it's just that I know what my car has already run and it's breaking built trannies so anything slower, et or mph, doesn't say anything to me) because on motor with everything fixed and a good trans the car should go about 3-5mph faster than that.

Re: CPT Trans owners inside please.
well, I have been talking to frank, and my car is puttin down about 440 to the wheels. He told me his pro race tranny should have no problems taking anything I can throw at it. Im just trying to price everything out right now and see really how much this swap is gonna make my pocketbook cry. lol.
