Cost of T-56 Swap?

After kicking around the idea of selling my car and getting in the seat of an LS1 T/A, I've decided to keep the old Formula and trick the hell out of it. I'd rather make huge payments monthly on mods than on a loan.

First thing that has to go is this slushbox. It's boring and I'm leaving some speed on the table with it. How much would a shop charge me to do the swap, ballpark figure. Assuming I haven't bought anything and I just give them the car and tell them to have it.

Thanks in advance, gents.

To buy all the parts you'd need it can be anywhere from $1,000-$1,500. That is used parts.

Re: Cost of T-56 Swap?

Check out www.fbodymotorsports.com they charge $1,000 to do the A4-->T-56 swap. I just got done doing the swap myself to my 95 Z28. I spent $2,200 for the whole T56 swap kit shipped to my house (I bought a T56 with only 32,000 miles on it which is why the kit cost more) and about another $1000 for the Spec Clutch, B&M shifter, and other misc. costs. Hope that helps you out!

Re: Cost of T-56 Swap?

I have a T56 out of a 97 Z28 that I am having a Tremec rebuild kit put in right now. After that is finished the whole "swap" will be up for sale. Also has a Hurst billet plus shifter. The only thing that would be needed is a flywheel and clutch. Hopefully I'll have that up for sale within the next week or two.

Nope...they charge $1800 for a used T56....they might charge $1000 to swap it out for you but not $1K for the tranny.

I picked it up for $309 shipped and didn't feel like going through the hassle of putting it in myself so it was $150 to have it put in. That combined with the Hurst shifter it should NEVER have another problem in most applications.

Sorry, I meant $1,000 for labor only. Parts and tranny are extra $$$.
