Question Converting auto box to 6 speed manual.

Just wondering what's involved on the LT1 (Gen4). Is it a difficult conversion? At a guess I'd say, autobox off, starter wheel off, fit flywheel and clutch assembly, fit gearbox, fit a different pedal box, linkage and lever.

Is there anything else that has to be done?

Sorry if these questions are seemingly retarded. Don't know too much about these over here.

Many thanks

Si

That is about it. The linkage is hydraulic so you need to mount the master cylinder and there is a bit of wiring to do, but it is pretty straitforward nuts-and-bolts work.

You mean the clutch is hydraulic?

What wiring needs to be done then? Also, is there already a bracket on the pedal box for a clutch pedal?

Thanks

I sent you a page of instructions that I found on the web some time back. Maybe the page is still out there?

Yes, just received. Nice one John. May prove very useful. Great for reference.

Yes the clutch is hydraulic.

The new pedal assembly will come complete with both pedals and bracket.

The wiring includes the clutch safety switch, reverse lights, neutral/park safety switch and cruise control cutoff switch. You will also need to either swap the PCM for a six speed one or have yours reprogrammed to remove the transmission controls. And of course you will need a different trim panel for the center console.

Don't have to take half the dash out or anything silly to get the pedal box in do you?

Bit concerned over the wiring. Although I am not doing this....if all I can find over here are autos, then I'll be transfering to manual for sure.
