Converter sporadically locks/unlocks
Converter sporadically locks/unlocks
Guys,
This problem is in my '98 C5 actually. Engine/Tranny are bone stock and all original.
Once i reach 50+ mph the converter locks like it's supposed to. However, the slightest movement of the pedal will cause it to unlock. Sometimes if i go up an ever so slight incline the converter will lock and unlock several times in succesion (ie. it will unlock/lock 5-6 times within a 5 second period). When i am at highway speeds (65-75) and give moderate acceleration witht he pedal it will not unlock (although i can briefly feel the converter try to unlock but it doesn't). If i give it a generous amount of throttle (such as 75%) then the converter unlocks without issue. I was thinking perhaps a worn TCC valve would cause this? If so I am under the impression the Transgo shift kit comes with a replacement? If so i'd probably just isntall a shift kit. Any other thoughts?
