Converter Question

Ok my bud asked me to post this question for him. He would like to know what converter stall would be the best for him. Now its his daily driver, so he drives it a lot. Here are his current mods.

CAR: 1983 T/A , Carbed 305, 700R4

MODS: .443/.469 214/224 @.050 282/292 adv dur , performer intake, holly 600 , headman shorties, matching y-pipe, flowmaster cat back, 3.73 gears.

The car isnt going to be braket raced or anything, but will see the strip hear and there.

Any info, or suggestions would be helpfull.

Thanks in advance.

He's worried that anything bigger then 2600 will be to radical. But I was thinking at least a 2800 would work good for him. But he thinks it will just slip alot. Can any of you guys runing converters clear some of this up for him. Because he said he road in a chevelle that had a 3000 stall converter in it, and it felt like it slipped alot.

didn't those cars produce alot of torque? if so, i think a 2600-2800 would fit him real well. some of the more high end models aren't so loose/crappy feeling

It seems like a 2400-2600 would be plenty, but I would take Rich's advice and get in touch with Coan or another company. I have a 3500rpm stall and I can assure you he probably wouldn't want it for daily driving unless he enjoys revving to the sky just to keep up with traffic. Of course, WOT is more fun now.
