Converter going away on me?

This is an ATI 9" 4000 stall. Its been in 2 cars at this point. Off the line the converter would flash to just shy of 4000 rpm.

I went to the track last weekend (have not been in 6 months or so)and I could not get anymore that 3200 out of it.

Nothing has changed since my last visit but I have put a few thousand street miles on the car.

I pulled the pan to look for any signs of the tranny going away on me but nothing out of the ordinary. It does not smell burnt or look tarnished.

whats the deal.... is the converter going south on me?

There is a "Drivetrain" forum specifically for "Drivetrain" problems. That's where this belongs, not on Advanced Tach. Moving.....
