Converter and gear combo
Converter and gear combo
I just had my 4L60E rebuilt and I ordered a 3000 stall converter. I'm on my third ten bolt with this car because i cant afford anything better. So my current rearend has a 3.42 gear in it and I was just wondering if it is a MUST to swap in a set of 3.73 or perhaps 4.10 gears. The car is equipped with a B&M supercooler to help control the extra heat if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help!
I have 3000 stall and 3.73's and it seems like a great combo. I have yet to run it at the track though, but around town it likes to get up and go. I'd say you don't really NEED 3.73's, but sure it would probably help some. It will help the higher stall feel better around town though. Since you have 3.42's in it as it sits, just save your money for now. Thats my 2 cents.
Awesome. I'm gonna take it to the track next weekend to see how it runs. The last two 10 bolts had 3.73s. I havent had it to the track with the 3.42 in it. Scared of breaking it again lol. I am really just concerned about overworking the converter so to speak but its good to know that it should be fine till i got the dough to dish out for a gear. Do you think maybe a 4.10 would be overkill? Thanks again!
