Clutch wont disenguage
Clutch wont disenguage
So the last couple days Ive had an irratic problem when shifting. It would be hard to get into gear. On my way home today the damn clutch wouldnt disenguage at all. I stopped and called for a ride. I went back later after traffic died down, and just put it in first and cranked and started the car. It rolled when starting since it wouldnt disenguage. Anyway on the way home it would disenguage sometimes and not others. This is a spec stage 2 or 3, I cant remember, lol. It has about 17k miles on it. The clutch holds fine.
Im assuming its either the master or slave cylinders. I dont think I would have bent a clutch fork or anything. The peddle is light on the top end, and dont feel normal till i get it towards the floor.
Which is more likely to go out, the master or slave cylinder? Or might I have a different problem?

Re: Clutch wont disenguage
Well I just talked to a friend of mine, sounds like it may be a clutch problem. It only messes up sometimes, and he said the specs are famous for loosing springs, and doing just this. Damnit this pisses me off. I didnt want to have to put a new clutch in this soon
I suppose there is no way spec will stand behind this either

lol, it does get kinda dead in here at times. AFA the clutch problem, it could come down to a couple of things (you already mentioned one of them). It isn't worth it IMO to just replace the slave or master alone, go ahead and buy the whole assembly from jason cromer... includes the MC, SC, line, reservior, filled, and pre-bled and ready to bolt-in. Cromer had it for around $150 last time i checked (about a year and a half ago).
I have heard of problems with the SPEC pressure plates loosing the diaphram spring. It's kinda hard to judge though because i thought SPEC got the PPs directly from Valeo (who makes the LT1/4 PPs). As much as you don't want to hear it, try a new hydraulic assembly and see what happens. If it doesn't fix the problem then you're going to have to pull her apart. HTHs and good luck
