Clutch toast?

For about 2 days now, I've noticed something funny with the clutch but I just figured it was something to do with the temperature outside or something. Anyways, for some reason I noticed a bit of a "clunk" feeling in the gearshift when coasting slowly to a stop and putting it in first gear. Today, when I was in first gear at a stop, I can feel something travelling up the gearshift, like it's not completely in disengaged, and the car wants to creep forward.

By the time I got home, I can hardly put it in gear at all and the clutch fluid was really low I added fluid but it didn't help.

As a side note, I recently (2 months ago) had to replace my mcleod adjsutable master cylinder with my old stock one, because a seal had gone or something and the fluid kept contaminating, but the fluid in the new one looks OK and I don't think that's the problem.

Please let me knowwhat you think this might be! I just want to go to the tranny shop armed with some knowledge

ps- I can sort of hear a "clunk" when the cutch plate slaps against the flywheel (i think that's what it is!) and it's more pronounced lately.

By the way, for about 8 months the clutch, off and on, has made a "swhirring" noise sometimes when I release the pedal and the clutch is engaging. I think something may have happened to one of the springs last year when I was stuck in a traffic jam during the blackout. But the spring thing is just a guess, I really am a bit confused. I figured if the clutch was going out, it would slip, it's not slipping at all from what I can tell, car still slows down if I drop gears.

If your clutch fluid was low I suspect that you have a leak (probably in the slave). That coupled with the fact that the McLeod master has been replaced with the less efficient stock master is giving you the disengagement problems.
