clutch slipping ??? Or pressure plate weak ?

My '02 Collector Edition has developed an odd problem.

Car has 21,000 miles on it. No track time... just normal street driving / highway.

If I take off hard in 1st gear, reach redline and shift hard to 2nd, the clutch starts slipping and the car doesn't pull anymore. Totall slippage.

I figured the clutch was toast, but at 21000 miles with no drag racing I thought this was odd.

I decided to make some tests. I started off in 2nd and even 3rd gear from dead stop... no slipping. The clutch grabs as soon as the pedal is raised just a little from the floor.

I can romp on it in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear while cruising and the car just digs in and pulls... no slip.

The clutch only slips when I hard shift from 1st to 2nd.

This doens't sound like a worn clutch. Sounds like a weak pressure plate perhaps ?

Or slave cylinder screwing up ??

Any thoughts ?

Car has 335hp / 380 TQ as of last dyno about 5 months ago.

Sounds like a sluggish slave cylinder(slow to return) I hear its a common problem with LS1 clutches. Do a search in the LS1 section under slave cylinder, I think there is a line modification that you can do to correct it.
