Red face Clutch question?

Ok, so my car has 90k on it and has never been abused for the last 8 years (30k miles). Clutch is stock (original).

Today while driving, the pedal felt soft (no resistance) down to about the halfway point. At the halfway point the resistance downwards was normal. Gears shift fine, and it holds gears as well with no slippage.

If I shift into a gear and release the pedal, the resistance again is only there for 1/2 the total travel. The upper half feels "dead" with no resistance needed to push down.

I checked the brake fluid and it's topped up and had someone clutch down in the car while looked at the fluid - no change, no bubbles.

Is my clutch going south?

Thanks guys.

We have a forum specifically for "Drivetrain" questions. This one is only for "engine" topics. I'll move the post to the correct forum for you.

this is what i was suspecting. is this typically how long an unabused clutch on these cars last? is the pedal resistance issue synonymous with a failing clutch or master cylinder as mentioned above?

My stocker didn't last 90k and when I pulled it, it was smoked.

If you seriously don't have to many serious Mods & general take it easy on the drive line (clutch dumps/high revs) you would be fine with the lt4 clutch disk set at autozone.

cheapest solution. most people buy that and get a better disk. go to clutchnet.com, they make 75% of other clutch companies disks. and valeo/some china company, makes our pressure plates.

not sure, they do stock the part so you can ask to see it before you buy.

SPEC is all I'll ever use. I ordered a Stage 1 from LMperformance for 377 shipped on Monday night, it came today, it's in, and it feels spectacular.
