Clutch Problems
Clutch Problems
I know this should be in drivetrain, but the traffic there is very low and I need feedback quick. Okay, I just finished puting my motor back together etc. I install a new spec stage 3, and I installed the master slave. The clutch pedal was very wierd (had air in it). I put more fuild and as I was pumping the pedal it got very stiff and then snap. I removed the slave and found out the rod was a little bent and some fluid driped out the slave. I am hoping the slave just went bad, but the rod bent on it. Did I install clutch wrong, I did everything right etc. HELP!!!!
What could it be

Re: Clutch Problems
The pedal should not get super stiff like that. It sounds like enough pressure built up to bend the rod and then the slave crapped out. I'd definitely check your clutch/ pressure plate and make sure everything is installed correctly. How much did the rod bend, exactly?

I installed more fluid in the resovior, and then my buddy started to pump the clutch pedal. Then he said it started to get very hard and then the ball on the master slave rod slipped off the clutch fork from bending from the pressure. The clutch was installing correctly, I dont think I had the clutch fork install good?????
What do you think?
Re: Clutch Problems
When I installed the spec clutch I put a new pilot bushing in, inserted clutch disk and pp with the clutch align ment tool. Everything was perfectly in the center using the tool while inserted with the bushing, THen torqued to 22lbs in the star pattern...............
Re: Clutch Problems
sounds like either the fork wasn't all the way in (it should 'snap' into place) or the slave wasn't tightened and the rod came out of alignment with the fork. Put a new slave on it and bleed it like this:
There is a bleeder valve on top of the slave, right behind where the line goes in. Crack this open and let it gravity bleed until you have clean fluid coming out. Then with the slave off of the bellhousing and the cap off the reservoir, slowly depress the rod into the slave manually. This will push the air out of the system through the reservoir. Hook everything up and pump the pedal a few times.

Thanks for some help, but you know I bent the rod and I guess like we both said I don't think the fork was installed all the way. What is the best way to tell that you inserted the clutch fork all the way in.
Thanks again Mark Tisdale
