Clutch petal grinding?

Just put in a new trans, go to start it and has a little trouble, but starts, and the trans is loud. Try to push in the clutch and when within 1/3 of the floor, it starts grinding bad. when pedal released, revs fine. Can't put pedal to floor to put in gear because of this. What's goin on here?

Did you replace the clutch at all? What kind of sound is the tranny making, a whining or grinding? Does the car try to move at all in neutral? Make sure your clutch fork is seated properly on both the tranny and the T/O bearing.

Pulled the slave, the clutch fork is hitting the PP. It feels a little loose when on TO bearing still. Can the fork be removed without pulling trans again?

It's normal for it to feel loose. As long as the t-stud is torqued down all they way (did you use loctite on that bolt?), it's fine. The fork will move around a little on there, the slave cylinder puts the pressure on it.

I definitely tightened the bolt down enough. I wonder if maybe I just didn't have the fork 100% all the way on? I'll check here in a min.

Yeah it was on all the way. Went ahead and took it back off the trans. Bent the spring back down so it would stay tight, grinded a tad off the fork where it rubbed and ground the T down about a mm or 2. Hope that works?

Red face

Problem solved! Finally drove it to work for the first time in 3 months. Going from a stock clutch/flywheel and stock MN6 to a dual friction clutch w/alum flywheel and M29 is def different.
