Clutch pedal squeaking

have been searching the boards for a week now and no luck so here goes...

squeaking noise when pushing in/letting out the clutch pedal on my 96 z28 m6.

not familiar with design and had difficulty finding resource so conducted investigation and observed that noise is coming from inside the plastic tube with the rubber boot on it from which the metal rod attached to the clutch pedal goes in/out of.

thoughts?

Are you having any problems with the clutch, or just the squeak? You might be able to put some lithium grease on the rod and pump the pedal a couple times, that might help.

No problems with operation of clutch...just squeak...

pulled boot back and packed tube with grease...no change...

wondered if anyone could provide explanation of part(s) and their function...i'm new but willing to learn...not just solve problems...
