clutch pedal problems. 3" and stop.
clutch pedal problems. 3" and stop.
I was comming down the road normally today, and when I shifted from 2nd to 3rd, the clutch was fine. When I mashed down on it to go into 4th, the pedal would only go down about 2 1/2". It was enough for me to change gears, but it isn't good.
For some odd reason, ( I think I know why) the clutch pedal is moving about 2 1/2" and then it's like hitting a rock. I know that the clutch lines are steel braided and the clutch is hydrualic, so what I'm thinking it is something inside the bell housing.
If it were low on fluid, the pedal would go to the floor. If it was air, it would be spongy. If I just get mad a stomp it, the line could pop and ruin something.
(from above) I think that this could be the problem. My b**ch once drove my car in the ditch full of water and hydrolocked my engine. When I tried to start her up, the starter could not turn the engine and instead of the force turning the engine, it knocked the end of my starter housing off. (looks like a nose)
I didn't know that for aprox 2 months, and then the starter started dragging. I took the starter off, and saw that BIG piece was missing. Well, it wasn't in there, so I thought that it had gotten chewed up in the flywheel, explaining the small aluminum shavings in the bellhousing.
I THINK that a piece of starter housing is still in there and has gotten in the way of the arm moving to disengage the clutch.
Of course, I'll take any other information that yall have, but I'm writing this post mostly just for information. What ever I find, I'll be sure to post with a reply.
Oh yeah, this is a Ram Clutch from Summit.

D Moss

fixed
I was right. It was a piece of the starter housing in the way of the slave cylinder travel.
To Moderator: I'm pretty sure that no one will be benifiting from this information, since it is a circumstantial error due to a starter housing busting, so if you want, just delete this post if you feel the same.
Thanks
