Clutch pedal/master cylinder rod retaining clip??

Clutch pedal/master cylinder rod retaining clip??
Well after installing the new clutch master cylinder, the retainer that holds the master cylander rod to the clutch pedal keeps popping off????? I think that it may be shot. Is there any other way, or a better way to keep the M/C rod from slipping off of that pin on the clutch pedal? Thanks
