Clutch pedal lost pressure

Yesterday I was on my way to work, sitting at a red light, clutch in, and kind of rowing through the gears (habit when I sit). I suddenly noticed it was getting harder and harder to get in and out of each gear... and the engine started to struggle when it was in gear.

I take my foot off the pedal, realize it's not coming up off the floor the way it should, put my foot back down, stick it in to gear and the car stalls.

At this point, there is no pressure at all in the pedal, its down and loose. (light turning green at this point, yay). Put it in neutral, restart the car, and started pumping away at the clutch... and the pressure built back up. Suddenly I could drive normally, drove it the rest of the way to work and home that day.

I'm concerned that my clutch hydraulics are going, but I'm not sure why the pressure would come back - in my experience once they're gone they're gone.

Before I order a replacement master/slave cylinder setup, what else could have caused that?

Re: Clutch pedal lost pressure

Sounds nice but I can't justify that cost on an entirely stock car.

Rockauto.com has the master, slave, reservoir, and lines as a unit for $120
