Clutch out of adjustment
Clutch out of adjustment
My car sat since last july..
During that time, the heads were changed.. by someone else.. I'm not sure what he had to do in the process..
Anyway, after fixing some of his ****ups, I've got the car running again.
Bad news: the clutch doesn't begin to engage until the pedal is about 90% out.
Clutch fluid level looks good...
Does the DOT3 go bad after sitting for so long?
Should I flush and fill the system?
Is there a way to adjust the clutch?
This is frustrating.. I'm not very good at launching the car when the clutch play is all within the last 10% of the pedal

Re: Clutch out of adjustment
I have this exact issue with the 1993 Z28 I just purchased. The car has been sitting for a year and a half. The clutch has at most 1000 kms on it (it's a centerforce dual friction clutch) and seems to work well, but the take-up point is very late (within the last 10% of pedal travel). Also, the pedal is quite stiff to push all the way to the floor (but I've only ever driven a Coblat with a standard transmission, so there's not much to compare to there). Is there any adjustment in the pedal mechanism itself? I would imagine that a clutch fluid leak (though the fluid level looks to be fine) or a bad clutch cylinder would cause problems disengaging the clutch...yet I have the opposite problem...it disengages too soon (and I'm having a fair bit of difficulty getting used to driving it). Any suggestions as to how I can sort this issue out? Thanks in advance.
