Question Clutch Out?

Well I was about 40 miles into a trip down the highway, came to a stop and was getting up to speed and felt my clutch slipping in first. Drove about 2 more miles and it would then not upshift into any gear. Stopped and with the clutch engaged, there would be a loud whirring noise when trying to force a shift.

Anyways, drove it about 15 more miles, having to force the shifter in pretty hard when shifting, with a little slippage in first gear. All of a sudden while cruising at 65 in 6th, something gave and now every gear acts as neutral. Shifts into gear fine but will not engage, so car is not driveable at all. What the heck is wrong, clutch out? throwout bearing? Any ideas?

Car is a 96 WS6, w/ 75k, w/ stock clutch. Never had any slippage until today, and car was not even driven hard when this happened. Please help.

Re: Clutch Out?

Just to get an idea of what you are dealing with, check your fluid and lines and make sure everything is good there. Try shifting gears with the car off, then fire it up and see what happens. You might want to start the car with the rear tires off the ground, just in case anything crazy happens. Plus you can look back there and check things anyway.
