Clutch options on for a 550hp LT1
lets hear them. I am shying away from McLoud (ok i know i mispelled that ) and looking and spec stg III with the new 6 puck design. Mianly because its $200 or so cheaper, seems to be just as strong and ease of installation.
Id love to hear your opinions.
ohh yea, this is going to be a fun car/ autox car.

I've been through many clutches (stock, Clutchnet Kevlar/Organic w/ LT4 PP, Clutchnet Kevlar/Bronze w/ LT4 PP, and on my second Star Stage III Carbon), and regret not going to the McLeod Street Twin to begin with. I have a feeling if I had, I would still be on THAT clutch, and would have had far less time/money invested in my clutch setup. Live and learn I guess.
People comment how expensive it is, but you must remember it also comes with a new flywheel, and I believe an adjustable master cylinder. It's a well proven clutch that WILL take the abuse. 10k miles on my first Star clutch = broken disc hub spring retainer and clutch pucks that were very worn out.

if you are really making 550hp, i would go with the street twin or a stage IV SPEC. a stage III is only rated to like 700ft-lbs of tq, if you decide to spray that car a stage III might slip. not sure what the street twin is rated at.

Personally, my vote is for the Street Twin. That thing is freakin amazing. Grabby, yet smooth as butter. I love it. Just make sure you have slicks or your track times and launches will suffer. Hard to get off the line.
