Need some ideas of what might be the problem please. I have a 1991 z28 350 TPI and a manual 5 speed in it. I put a new slave in it and it helped the problem for a few weeks,but the problem seems to be coming back again. When I put it in first and rev the RPMS to let out the clutch,it wants to pop out of first. The other problem is,sometimes it wont shift into reverse without grinding it. Sometimes its hard to shift into 3rd gear while down shifting and ordinary to down shift into 3rd,I have to rev the rpms up to shift down. The clutch seems to be good, I can burn the tires in 1st up to second gear,so the clutch is grabbing. " NO I DONT ABUSE MY CAR EITHER" I wanted to see if the clucth still grabs lol. If anyone could help me on this,that would be great thanks!

 

popping out of first gear would indicate a problem with the synchronizers in the transmission. that means you need a rebuild, sorry.

 

That came to mind, I wanted to see other opinions on this. Thanks for the advice!

 

How about being hard to shift into first? I am looking to buy a '97 and I need to know how bad it would be to fix that. During the test drive every time I stopped and tried to shif into first it wouldn't go unless I repeated the clutch, or shifted into second and then first.

 

Anyone??? How hard (costly) is it to fix it if it's hard to shift into first?
