Clutch Going?

ALright so I originally had a t56 swap dont from my a4 that went down the pooper. But I decided to put a stock clutch in at the time so I would have a good feel for it instead of starting out on a very aggressive clutch. This is just a stock replacement clutch from autozone, it has had quite a few hard launches on some M/T Drag Radials, and a few 150 shot nitrous runs on it....so I assume this could be part of the problem. But to my real problem, when I go to nail say 2nd,3rd,or 4th gear as soon as I release the clutch I get a horrible vibrating from the tranny which feels almost like the clutch is grabbing/slipping/trying to grab...and then my clutch pedal will fall to the floor and lock me out of ALL gears, and eventually the pedal will seem to build pressure back up and allow me to get into gear. Another problem I am having is the tranny is just sitting on a stock t56 tranny mount...when it is in 1st or 2nd gear it seems to have alot of motion as soon as the car starts putting power to the tranny...im talking about a good 1-2inches in movement to torque side. It did not use to do this so I went ahead an ordered a poly trans mount just in case. But sorry for the long post and all help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Clutch Going?

I just got done doing a clutch in my 99 Z28, but I went with a centerforce DF because the stock clutch was not designed to take much more power than stock and especialy not under track conditions. I'm not saying that they won't take it I'm saying if they crap out thats why. I know a guy who is running twin turbos on a stock clutch and he's fine and another guy who blew his up with a 50 shot and his has half the miles. But you can't blame the factory clutch for caving when it's faced with a 150 shot.

It dose sound like your clutch is giving up the ghost though.

Re: Clutch Going?

IF your clutch pedal is going right to the floor with no resistance then it sounds like somthing is wrong with the hydrualics on your clutch
