Clutch Disc Springs

What would cause the springs on a clutch disc to break? I had a McLeod single disc for about a year and a half, i'm a mild driver, certainly very very very few burnouts, and only about 10 track passes on it. For the longest time it's had this horrible chatter, and it always was hard to disengage. I swapped it out with the SLP setup and the car now drives like a dream. Anyway, the spring on the McLeod disc was broken, and that pretty much caused the horrible ride.

the same thing happened to my single disc mcleod i sent it back they sent me a new pressure plate and disc free and covered it under warrenty. bascially they said it failed becuase the metal was weak and that happens from time to time with them. just call them up and ask to talk to Les and he will take care of you.

Apparently Spec has that problem with all of their clutches. As a matter of fact, they use the same clutch center on the LT1 clutch (not sure about the LS1) as their four cylinder clutches (did some investigating after going thru 2 Stage 3's in 8 mths w/no hard launches and stock car). Just look at the tiny springs they use vs ANY other clutch on the market and you will see what I mean.
