Clutch for bolt on car < $500

I was looking into the ls6 clutch since it was cheap, like 300 for a kit then I relized I cant use it in my lt1. so now I need another alterative. I dont want to spend a ****load. Whats a good clutch for a bolt on car which is maby raced a handful of times in the summer, and driven spirited.

Stock clutch at Autozone for around $200.00
Your options are limited with the amount of money you are willing to pay. Most ebay clutches like Luk etc. are stock spec.

Re: Clutch for bolt on car < $500

I was thinking Ram HD, saw some on ebay for around 500 for a kit. Any luck w/ those? The reason im asking is not because my stock clutch is gone, the car only has 30k on it, and I need to drop the trans cuz it needs fixing so I was gona do clutch while I was in there. I have heard stuff about RAM and Zoom, are those an imporvment over stock? If I wanted to, could I use a RAM clutch w/ the stock PP?

Re: Clutch for bolt on car < $500

if you look in, i think its Summit Racing, they have a Ram Clutch. i had it in my old camaro when i bought it and plan on putting it in my WS6 now that the stock one is getting toasted. anyways, its no in the clutch section, you have to go to TPI/LT1/LS1 section and look at those clutches then in the Ram section there is one with a star and if you look below it says like heavy duty rated to 400 horse. now its kinda unknown and idk what it is classified as on Ram's website or what the deal is, but the part number matches up with the one i pulled from my camaro and that is a helluva a clutch especially for 350 or 450 w/e it is. if i can find a link online ill post it.

Check out Thunder's website for the Ram clutches and the McCloud single disks. Those are the two I'm debating on right now. Supposedly the autozone setup uses the LT4 style PP whereas everyone else uses the Valeo PP. I'm not sure of the exact difference except that the LT4 seems to be the preferred one. (maybe someone can chime in here?)

Where do y'all get the LT4 PP and what makes it so much better than the Valeo?

Valeo is just the stock design and its the same one used with Ram and Zoom like mentioned above. i have been warmed by many that the Autozone clutches absoultey SUCK and you should not even consider it.

This can be purchased from your local dealer. ALL LT1 PP's are valeo, most have diff finger set up.
