Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
I just got done toasting an SLP, was wondering if the RAM is any better. I can get the RAM for 310 and SLP for 350. Oh yeah RAM is 40% and SLP 30% over stock, just for reference.
Re: Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
i am getting ready to switch to a ram as well due to the same issues as you they are great clutches..i had one in my 96Z but they cost a **** load.....a buddy of mine is running them in every car he has from a 97 300+ T/A to his big block chevelle to his 95 T/A DD
Re: Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
Dealing with SLP is like multiple root canals, but if you go with one of their vendors you noramally come out ok.
I abused my SLP clutch (6k clutch drops on slicks) and it held up very well.

Re: Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
My RAM works excellent for street driving, but launches at the track with decent traction will take their toll. Mine has ~20K miles on it now, and it works great unless you get some heat in it, and then it starts to slip. If you sidestep it it's usually okay, but if you try to ride it you'll be in for a disappointment. I'm thinking about going with a SPEC Stage 2 pretty soon, as I plan on going on a few track outings this year and I'd like to get some decent short times. On a side note, it's held fine with my 125 shot, but only from a roll with the clutch already locked up. An aggressive launch(slippage) will get it hot enough to slip a little, but once it grabs it's okay. I say spend the extra ~$100 and get a SPEC.
Re: Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
ram was next on my list to try but never got around to it. I did have the SLP and beat the hell out of it and it lastest just fine. mabey not the greatest for the track, but it was a hell of a street clutch
Re: Which clutch is better SLP or RAM??
I had a ram clutch, just the replacement, and it didn't hold up too well. It lasted about 10k miles and now its slipping like crazy! I'm going to buy the next level up ram clutch soon.
