Clutch Adjustment
My 95 z28 m6 clutch grabs about 3"-4" off the floor. My friend who drives a 3000gt vr4 says that it should grab much closer to the floor. How would i go about adjusting my clutch if this is true? Thanks guys
That's about where mine grabs. If it's not slipping then it's fine. All cars are different for clutch feel though, you can't really go off of someone else's car. What clutch did you install?
If it's anywhere around the "middle" of the pedal stroke, then it's fine.
There really isn't much in the way of adjustment with our hydraulic clutches ... just plug & play!
If a clutch engages really soon when you start to let the pedal up, that can be a bad thing, as there's a chance the clutch is barely dis-engaging when you do push the pedal to the floor. At the opposite end, you don't want the whole travel of the pedal to be dis-engaging the clutch, and just the very top of the travel be engaged ... that's often a sign of a worn (slipping) clutch.
But again, shy of installing an adjustable aftermarket master cylinder, there is no adjustment, and as long as engagement is about middle of the travel? No worries

A new clutch disk and uncut flywheel will engage pretty close to the floor. As the clutch wears, the engagement will occur higher and higher off the floor. As stated above, there isn't any clutch pedal adjustment on the stock system.
I just changed my clutch a couple of weeks ago. The stock one had 92k miles on it and engaged almost at the top of the clutch travel. Put a new clutch in, and resurfaced the flywheel and it's now engaging about 1-2" off the floor.
As long as it still holds, it doesn't really matter where it engages. I changed mine because it was starting to slip.
