Clutch??

Hey everyone. Ive got a 93 lt1 with a T56. The clutch went out about 6 months ago and i had it replaced but i didnt put a high performance clutch back in it. It went out again about 2 months ago and I havent done anything to it yet. The car is stock except for the exhaust, and I dont drive it hard. Should I have to put a high performance clutch in it? Did I just catch a bad part? If I do need a better clutch kit, what brands should I look at. I know alot of people swear by centerforce, but Im not looking to gain power or response, I just want something that will last and Im trying not to spend alot of money. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Re: Clutch??

sounds like you got a bad clutch or it was not installed or broken in properly.

i would say upgrade to the LT4 clutch...little more holding power and i think slightly better parts.

a clutch isn't going to get you any more power but what you have to keep in mind is the driveability factor. if you buy a high-performance clutch you could lose all ability to "slip" your clutch because the new disk will grab way to well and you will be stuck either killing the motor or spinning your tires because on takeoff (racing or daily driving) something has to absorb some power and it usually is your tires or clutch.

Re: Clutch??

I would also recommend either the LT4 or the SLP clutch for you. Take it easy for at least 700miles or so, before you drive it hard.

Re: Clutch??

Something I forgot to add. Make sure you get an alignment tool. That's very important!
