clunk when stopping

did a search, no good answers found. When coming to a stop with normal breaking, right before I come to a complete stop, the rearend just jumps, and makes this horrible clunking noise. When hard stopping, rarely makes a noise. when accelerating normally, it ocassionally jumps, but not nearly as bad as stopping. Hard accelerating in first and let off before second, sometimes clunks pretty good also. Mostly when stopping though. I am going to have u joints replaced next week. Could it be any thing else though? oh yeah, still has stock 2.73, and car has 95k.

i got that one night when i was out driving around. was making a left turn and downshifted to 3rd going around a corner and all of a sudden "CLUNK" right from underneath me.
it was happening nearly every shift. needless to say i got home quickly. next morning i got underneath it. there was my poor little torque arm hanging free and loose not fastened to the tranny in any manner what so ever.
the bolt for the torque arm mount came right out and i lost it on the road, luckily i didnt loose half of the torque arm mount as well.
believe me if your torque arm mount came loose, u'd know it

just got back from the shopand of course found a couple things. first my differential and trans are leaking no biggie its under warranty and at least my fluid will be changed. what that will take them no time at all. also the only thing he heard when he took it out was when he got on it the exhaust hit. i didnt think anything of it till now then somebody said it must be it on hard shifts i feel a slight movement under the car like a bounce he showed me the muffler and the top was dented in from bouncing back up so it must hit hard enough that i can feel it so thats got to be what it is what a relief ill see if they can tighten it at the dealer WHOO HOO
