Changing transmission mount
Changing transmission mount
i never changed the transmission mount on my z, but i can tell its going out. how do i change it, im assuming its just one mount from what i've looked at while under the car. it looks like theres just one cross member that runs left to right under the trans with a single mount between the member and the trans. so do i just unbolt the member, support the trans and just replce the mount? also in th eyearone catalog that the prothane mount is taller than oem, am i better going with a stock mount? thanks in advance.

You pretty much got it all down, support tranny, unbolt mount and replace. Believe it or not i've had some great luck with Advance Auto house brand transmission mount
Prothane mount will increase chassis vibration, especially at highway speeds but as far as installation goes it's nothing different from the factory one unless there were some recent changes.

Not unless you have other problems. AKA Driveshaft out of balance, or anything else out of balance in the driveline.
Will you feel more vibration, yes. But I dont think it's going to be bad.

Just get the ES poly trans mount, then grind down the two pre-load bumps flat. I installed mine that way with the pre-load plate, I have little to no added noise/vibration. BTH, this is my second ES trans mount I have done this way, the first lasted 8yrs.
