Changing from 2:73 to 3:42 or 73

Is anything needed to make the change from 2:73 to 3:42 or 3:73 other than an ordinary install kit

Make sure you get the gears for a 2 series carrier, besides that and the install kit, you'll need differential fluid. Can't think of anything else. I'm doing the same thing, just ordered my 3.73's, up from the stock 2.73's.

I always had this question........Is the 2 series carrier thinner? and if so wouldn't it be weaker? Like would you have to switch to the series 3 carrier if you were running high HP with let's say 3.73's?? I didn't think you would but i am curious?
