Car sometimes wont shift (4l60e)
Hello,
I have a 95 Camaro Z28 with an auto (4l60e I believe.) It has 219k miles on it, never had any probs with tranny before, just normal maint.
Yesterday was driving and the car didn't seem like it wanted to shift out of 2nd gear... engine was reving, but wouldn't shift. After I let go of the accelerator and hit it again, it shifted finally, but really hard. Wouldn't go into overdrive at all. Turned the car off, had lunch for an hour... came back out and all was working fine. Drove 150 miles today no problem, then all of a sudden problem came back again. Turned car off for a few and back on, and it went away. Drove the 150 miles back home and around town with no problems again.
Seems to be intermittent, obviously... but is this a sign of something to get worse? Anyone know what could be wrong?
Also, checked tranny fluid, it's full... and looks nice and red.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Car sometimes wont shift (4l60e)
That does sound strange, but I noticed your in AZ how's the weather down there? could the tranny be getting hot? You might look for a blockage in the cooler lines, and with that many miles you could probably use a cooler flush anyhow... Oh I am not talking one of those crappy jiffy lube system flushes, pull you lines off and actually flush them with a product called cooler flush or cooler dr or something like that...
If the temp in the tranny is getting up there this can happen, but it can also lead to othr problems as well.
Sorry I don't have anything else for you, but maybe some of the pros will jump in. Good luck with it.

It did it again yesteday, on my way into work... when the car was completly cold... So I'm not sure if it's heat realated or not. Just thought I'd throw that out there just in case it was of any help..
