Can I run a stock replacement clutch?

My SPEC 1 that is only 2 years old has started to slip after about 20-25k miles.

I do not want to break the bank and would like to get the cheapest clutch possible right now. I can get the advance auto clutch kit (perfection clutch kit) for 175, or I can get a zoom for 255.

What will hold up and what won't? I'm not sure if the stage 1 wore premature due to the power my car makes, or if it was just a faulty clutch. My stage 3 lasted 50k.

There is a place on 8 mile in Warren Mich over by me that will rebuild your clutch for around 275.00,includes resurface flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate..They use Kevlar so it will hold up alot better..Place is called Clutch Masters.

Re: Can I run a stock replacement clutch?

I spoke with spec and they said they'd look at the clutch but it sounds like the best theyre going to be able to do is just rebuild it for me for a cost.

I think I'm going to go with clutch masters, they said they can rebuild it for $250 and like you said that includes resurfacing my flywheel, new disc, new to bearing, new pilot bushing, and resurfacing my pressure plate. That sounds to me like the best option.

He said they can build it to suit the power of my car so I think that's a pretty good deal all things considered, and compared to the offer SPEC made to me.
