Can I resurface a preasure plate?

Story: My clutch is a stock one, and after 3-4 passes at the strack it warms up and doesn't release very well.

Friend has a spec II that he roughed up when his tranny broke. He was stuck in 4th and thought he would "launch" it to get it moving. So his flywheel and preasure have hotspots and a little buildup. The clutch disk itself looks fine.

I have a clean resurfaced flywheel. My machine shop said they could not surface preasure plates. Can I take some sandpaper to it and just polish it back up and use it?

Free spec II would be nice.

If the pressure plate is high mileage, replace it. The springs (fingers) can fail in the PP and you'll end up pulling everything out again.
