Exclamation called strange on the dana 60,[...]?

So, did I get a newbie or something? They said they dont make the dana 60 for the 93-97 brakes, I have to upgrade to the 98+ style, or pay 250 for LT1 brake plates. I have never heard of this, I thought they came ready for the LT1 system?? How did you all order yours?
Also, they said the power lok is discontinued, but the true track will take its place for the same price... so that is cool.

So, those of you with the 93-97 f-bodies, what was the part number you ordered for the housing and brake setup? Did you have to install the newer brakes on it? Or did you get raped another 250 for LT1 backing plates??

I seem to be getting the run around, so I want to know what is going on before I commit to any GP's...

Thanks for any and all help here!

also, about the drivshafts, they said the new yoke was not included?? Are you serious?
which drive shafts did you get?

Strange U1699 driveshaft 3"x.083" DOM chrome moly driveshaft with H.D. U-joints

Strange U1700 driveshaft 3"x.083" Seamless chrome moly driveshaft with High Imp. U-Joints

Strange U1702driveshaft 3"x.083" Seamless DOM chrome moly driveshaft with H.D. U-joints

what is the difference between the last two besides 30 dollars?

I thought I had all this figured out, but it seems like this could get nickel and dimey in a hurry... lol

Thanks again for some insight here...

Maybe you got a new salesperson?? Because what he told you is completely backwards. I have a Strange 12 bolt in my Formula and when I ordered it they said LT1 caliper mounts were stock so if you had an LS1 you either had to send them your caliper mounts or pay an additional $s for them to install new LS1 style backing plates.
I bought mine thru a GP from T.Byrne and he handled all of the details for me.

Which yoke is not included? Normally, you buy a DS, and then have to buy a front slider/yoke to match your tranny. I know my Mark Williams TH400 slider was almost $200.

I suspect the "HD" u-joint is a greasable 1350, and the high impact is a solid 1350.

See, that is what I thought as well... the LS1's need the backing plates, and LT1 calipers bolt on. I have NEVER heard of the LT1 needing the plates at an additional fee.. what the crap.. stupid newbs. maybe I should call in again and see what is up for real.

I called t.Byrne yesterday and they didn't know what was going on. They are runnin a sale right now as well, and that is what has me all fired up over this. So, I am waiting to hear back from them at the moment. I want to know all this stuff before I commit and end up spending buttloads more. that isn't cool. hehe.

yeah, its that front peice that slides into the tranny that is not included. I guess I always thought of the driveshaft as the whole peice, from tranny to rear... guess I look like the newb now.

Hmm, so the HD is the one I would want for the street then, huh Fred? I would want to be able to grease that thing...

Thanks so much for your insight!

There really is no need to grease it. The solid ones come fully lubed, and its not a high maintenance item. The little hole for the Zerk and the holes for the grease to squirt to the ends of the U-joint are enough to weaken the U-joint. I run solid, but I don't drive much on the street. I've seen the greasable units break.
