buying a '00 z28, t-56. Trannie symptoms, please advise
considering buying a '00 z28 stick from a friend of a friend. If I can get his price down, it'll suit my purposes. I know the rear end needs to be rebuilt, but I have some concerns about the trannie too.
I'm fairly ignorant of how the t-56 is supposed to feel, and am looking for advice on if this is normal or a symptom of something wrong.. only other sticks i've handled lately were in a '70's lotus and a rx-8.
With engine off, hand break engaged and using the clutch. Shifting for 1-3rd gears sound rather loud, and feels like the linkage is dragging ? 4-5 feels ok but a little stiff. 6th gear is hard to find, and is sluggish to engage and seems to take more force than the others.
Its never a smooth snick-snick changing gears that I'm accustomed to from the other mentioned vechiles. So is this normal or are some thing dragging (and something else entirely for the 6th gear?)
