Broken Slave Cylinder Line! Need some help bad!
Broken Slave Cylinder Line! Need some help bad!
I am changing out my clutch in my 99 Z28 and when I went to go put the line going into the slave cylinder back on, it would not go in. Then I realized that the tip of the line broke off in the slave cylinder. So I have a slave cylinder with a broken piece in it and a line missing the tip. What do I do now? Gonna need new slave cylinder I presume, but how do I fix the line? Can the end piece be replaced or do I have to get a whole new line and run it from one end to the slave cylinder? I need your help!
there should be a small push pin where the line goes into the slave housing. pop that out and the piece should come right out.
then you just need to replace the hydrolic line.
do a search for some used parts on here or ebay...or maybe contact a shop like thunder or TSP...they may have some old slaves (with the line) laying around.
you MAY be able to buy just the hyd line from a dealer or NAPA....not sure.
i had the same thing happen to my slave when i put my clutch in. the trans slipped and yanked on the hydrolic line...snapped right where it enters the slave housing.
luckily i had the old slave laying aroud...and just swapped the lines.
oh...by the way...the last 2 slaves i've purchased from Thunder (upgraded versions) have all come with the line attached....so it's no big deal. not bad for $140

That line goes to the master cylinder correct? I replaced the slave cylinder last time I did my clutch, so I have a upgraded one. I just need to get the broken piece of that line out and get a new line. A Mod on LS1Tech said I had to get a new master cylinder because thats the only way to get the line. And you are saying slave cylinder... I'm confused.. I'm not saying either one of you are wrong because how the hell should I know, I just want to make the right decision. I'll look for a line, but if I can't find one, do I get a new master cylinder or slave? When I bought my slave, their was no line. I'll check with Thunder Racing and see if it is supposed to come with the slave. Thanks for the help Teke.
Disregard my entire reply....I figured out what you were saying. The connector comes with the slave cylinder not the actual line, in which I can remove the line from the current broken connector, and install it in the new one on the new slave. Thanks for the help man, your full of helpful knowledge as usual!
