Re: Broken Posi??

Is it the stock Posi? They tend to wear out fast under hard abuse. They dont take long. I have went through 3. Finally steppin up to a 9 inch with a detroit locker.

Re: Broken Posi??

Well the alternative to replace the stocker is an auburn carrier for a stock 7.5 rear. I have this in one of my Trans am's and it never lays only one tire down. It is costly though. I think I spent 600 for it with installation. I also had the gear changed when I was in the rear.

Re: Broken Posi??

That would be his pin gear shearing off the retaining bolt and walking around in the housing. Not a good thing.

Bingooo.... the oil was so shiney... we got a magenet and glops of oil metal stuck to it when we dipped it in, thats what happens when your rear dies on you.. heh

Re: Broken Posi??

Eaton is another good LSD. Mine is the only thing I haven't broken in the 10 bolt besides the axles and one of them has wierd wear marks where the bearing and seal ride. Wanna buy a 2yr old Eaton? My ride's down right now waiting for funds to get a 9" or 12 bolt.

Re: Broken Posi??

my friend drove like that for almost 1/2 year, but he knew something was up when he went through 3 rotors due to scraping on the caliper mount, when we pulled the wheel, the axel came out by just PULLING on it... so.. it had the potential to be REALLY bad, instead of just bad...
