Broke transmission mount

I believe i broke my transmission mount, a loud banging sound near the seat. Everytime i accelerate in first, it does it but thats the only gear. I was wondering which transmission mount i should get, since the stock ones are known for breaking all the time. i was also wondering how you could tell if it was broken wihtout jacking the transmission up and taking the mount out. i dont know much about cars, and i dont trust myself do replace it myslef so ill have a shop do it but i want to know if thats really the problem.

Re: Broke transmission mount

I'm not sure since it has been a long time since I've had to replace mine. However notice I said long time. Why? Polyeurathane. (sp?) If my polyeurathane transmission mount has lasted that through my abuse? Then it should last thorugh just about anything.

Re: Broke transmission mount

I got a $12 mount from Advanced Auto Parts and am happy with it. It is build a bit more sturdy than the stocker was.

Yeah I hear the same noise everynow and then (behind driver seat near the center consol)... but mine is really noticeable when I try to go in Reverse... is this a transmission mount or somethin more serious...

Re: Broke transmission mount

Sounds like a broken tranny mount to me too. I broke the mount in mine about a month after I got the car. That was the same simptom I had. When I accellerated too quickly I got a loud BANG coming from just behind the seats. I got the mid-range replacement at the local auto parts store and it was apparently better than the stock because I never had another problem with it.
